The month that was.

It has now officially been 5 weeks since we first visited Alaska but I can't help but reminisce. We were told of how hot it was in the area yet most of us still wore sweaters on the day. Later on, we became sweaters ourselves!

The Viva Foundation was so welcoming it actually feels like our home when in Alaska. The residents were understanding and allowed us to complete our work (although a few assumed we were there to move them before we explained what we were there for).

Old shipping containers were reused to create rooms and painted over.

Viva was unbelievably welcoming. The children there even sang for us.

The view from the top (where my group started collecting data first) was amazing. I sometimes go through the pictures on my phone to see it again when I don't have mobile data.

The view from the top is truly something to behold.

After taking a week of "study leave" for the theory semester test, we had to create a project proposal. Looking back, I realize that I should have been more assertive and that would have helped the group do better with that particular deliverable.

"90% of the coding takes 90% of the time. The other 10% of the coding takes another 90% of the time." - Frikan Erwee. That quote stuck with me because it seems to foreshadow the events of the next few weeks. Most of us have never really got the hang of coding yet and now we have to create a useful mobile application. So this is what the deep end looks like...

Now that we are at the end of August approaching Spring which is known as the season of the birth and growth of new things, I hope we will be able to learn and grow our knowledge bases and bear delicious fruit.
